More than 35 years of gifts
  • Since 1978, the Library Friends have donated more than $290,000 to purchase basics and extras that have served to collectively make this Library a special destination for all ages.
  • In the early years when the Library was a private institution with a very small budget, the Friends purchased basic equipment such as photocopiers, a dehumidifier, calculators, an electric typewriter, telephones, a refrigerator, fax machines, tape players, and a scanner that contributed to Library staff productivity.
  • Basic furniture needs such as tables, chairs, shelving, card catalog cabinets, display units, and area rugs have also been supplied.
  • Books, magazine subscriptions, and other collection materials have been purchased through the years. The flowers at the Library entrances have been purchased and planted by the Friends over the years.
  • Many of the Christmas decorations that adorn the Library were gifts from our generous Friends. The group helps pay for Library program speakers and concerts, supplies and refreshments.
  • Many greater Zionsville area residents, past and present, have benefited from the diligence and funds donated by this caring group.

Significant contributions to the present building

After several years of saving book sale proceeds, the Friends in 1993 donated $7000 to purchase the chandelier that hangs in the main lobby. The beautiful light fixtures in the main lobby and on the second floor were made possible by the generosity of the Friends. In addition, a display cabinet was purchased that shows off the Lora Hussey doll collection.
